Hello! My name is Brent and I am very excited to be giving any assistance to help prepare interested students to be ready for this upcoming school year!I am 26 years old and I just graduated from the University at Albany with my Master's in Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology. Previously I went to the College of Saint Rose where I received my Bachelor's for Childhood Education in May of 2012. I have been employed as a teaching assistant for three years at Watervliet Elementary in a special education setting. In September, I hope to be getting my own classroom where I can finally have a group of my own students to prepare them for their next step in life.I've been passionate about pursuing a teaching career since high school because I had that one teacher that I looked up to and told myself that I wanted to be "that teacher" (a rememberable one/one they look up to).I have parents come up to me asking how I do it and all I say is it takes patience. Every student is different and has their own unique approach to learning. My goal is to have each student become a life-long learner and strive to do better at anything they do.

Since about age 8, I have always known I wanted to help others succeed, no matter what it was in. This led me to enter the education field as a NYS Certified Vocal Music teacher in 1997. Shortly after, I discovered my love for helping people with learning needs, so I earned my Masters degree in Special Education K-12 in 2001. I immediately was hired at a small school and worked there for 23 years teaching a wide variety of different subjects and class types. I semi-retired this year, but could not imagine not working with students. This led me to exploring tutoring opportunities such as this. I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham Method for students with Dyslexia, as well as being trained to work with students with ADHD or Autism. I earned my certificate as a Youth-Mental Health First Aide responder, and feel strongly about promoting mental well-being. Given my varied experiences, I am comfortable tutoring in almost any subject from grades K up to grade 9/10. I am most passionate about helping students find success and getting them excited to learn.
Aloha. I am from Honolulu, Hawai'i and I've recently moved to Albany, New York to study speech-language pathology. My undergraduate degree in early and elementary education has prepared me for one-to-one tutoring with children from ages 3-12 and I have a deep passion in education and child development. I have an extensive amount of experience working with children of all ages and I particularly enjoy grades 2-5. A part of my passion for education deals with my love for children and I plan to be a pediatric speech therapist upon receiving my Master's degree in May 2019. I enjoy being active and outdoors for the most part but I also believe that down time and personal wellness is very important!
With over 14 years of classroom experience and extensive involvement in tutoring, I bring a strong foundation in both pedagogy and instructional leadership. I hold a bachelor's in Childhood Education, a master's in Curriculum and Instruction, and a second master's in Educational Leadership and Administration. Throughout my career, I've worked with a wide range of students and learning needs, consistently striving to create learning experiences that are engaging, personalized, and results-driven. I tutor all core elementary subjects, including reading, writing, science, social studies, and math, but math is where my passion truly lies. For the past nine years, I've served as the lead math instructional planner at my school, collaborating with consultants and colleagues to implement research-based strategies that make math accessible and meaningful for every learner. Whether I'm preparing students for Standardized State Tests or adapting instruction for Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), I take pride in making learning both effective and enjoyable. My teaching philosophy is centered on building confidence through clarity and connection. I believe every student is capable of success when instruction is tailored to their strengths, interests, and learning style. My tutoring sessions are structured yet flexible, aiming to break down complex ideas in ways that feel intuitive and empowering.

That's why I create fun, engaging lessons that target each student's specific needs and keep them motivated and moving forward. I absolutely love seeing a student's face light up when they master a new skill! I'm a positive-minded, caring tutor with 20 years experience as a K-5 Special Educator and K-2 Classroom Teacher. Hi there, I'm Jessica! I'm currently in my final semester of a Master's program at The College of Saint Rose, where I am becoming certified in English Language Arts and Special Education for students in grades 7-12. I have worked as a substitute teacher throughout college, and have recently completed an internship in a middle school Resource Room setting.I specialize in tutoring all English subjects, including the writing process, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and grammar, at all academic levels from elementary school through college. I am also an expert tutor in ELA, math, science, and history at the elementary and middle school levels.I have substantial experience working with students who have learning challenges or disabilities. I believe that we all learn in unique ways, and so my approach to tutoring is highly individualized towards each student that I meet.I am passionate about developing relationships with my students and helping them reach their goals. I take a high-energy approach to tutoring and love to incorporate students' interests into the tutoring process, to help build engagement and make the learning experience enjoyable.
I come from a family of teachers, as my mother was an elementary school music teacher for 35 years and her sister was a preschool teacher. I did very well in school, including college and graduate school, I wanted to help others learn how to study effectively and remember information. I have developed a desire to help people achieve their educational goals and succeed in an academic setting. I first began substitute teaching in the 1990s and felt like I was really making an impact on students' motivation to learn. I completed my student teaching in Spanish in 2003 at East Hartford High School (Connecticut). Soon thereafter, I began working for a private company as a tutor for students with special needs, as well as those with English as their second language (in reading, writing, and math). At this point, I also took on a few private tutoring jobs, with someone of Japanese descent, as well as a couple students who were of Mexican descent. I worked at an autism spectrum school for about four years as a direct care staff person. I taught Spanish to two adolescents while there. I also experienced growth myself, as I had not realized how important socialization is to learning. As you may or may not know, socialization is a big barrier to many students on the spectrum. Finally, I have been substitute teaching in the Albany, NY area, which renewed my interest in being an instructor/facilitator/guide to struggling students. During this time, I had also tutored an international graduate college student (from Saudi Arabia) in Educational Psychology in preparation for her Early Childhood degree. I felt like this experience opened my eyes even more about cultural differences, and was a challenge that I was prepared to meet.
I am a New York State certified teacher. I have my certifications in both Childhood Education and Special Education. I have taught Kindergarten, third, and fifth grade. Currently, I am teaching special education. I have 7 years of tutoring experience.
Hi! My name is Jeffrey King and I'm looking forward to working with you. I believe every student has the ability to succeed and each student learns differently. I'm able to meet your needs and help you succeed.
