I am a graduate of Touro College. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in accounting and graduated magna cum lauda. While in Touro, I made my decision to attend law school. I enjoyed studying for the LSAT and thankfully my hard work paid off and I have started law school. I know the test can be frustrating. However I am very passionate about the test and want to share what worked for me with future test takers to help them reach their dream score because I know it's possible. I have years of experience tutoring in math, reading comprehension and Judaic studies. I believe the most important part of learning is to have fun and everyone has the skills to do well. As a tutor it is my job to find the method that works best for the student be successful and makes the subject matter interesting and engaging. In my spare time I enjoy playing sports, reading and hanging out with family and friends.

I believe a strong point for me is my ability to motivate students and combine classroom/tutoring management.
"My philosophy of education is that all children are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. I believe all children can learn and be inspired to become lifelong learners. I will assist my students to express themselves and accept themselves for who they are, as well as embrace the differences of others. Every classroom has its unique community; my role as the teacher will be to assist each child in developing their potential and learning styles.

Every student is different so every lesson must be geared towards each individual. All people can learn, they learn differently and my job is to make sure I can find out what helps each and every student I work with. I am currently an undergraduate student at NYSCAS Touro College. I am majoring in Biology in order to pursue a long-term career in occupational therapy. Since high school, I have found a keen interest and passion in tutoring students who are struggling in certain academic studies, specifically mathematics. Throughout my experience in tutoring, students have been able to attain a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts as well as learning how to solve problems on their own by applying those concepts. In addition to tutoring, I enjoy playing tennis and volunteering at a local nursing home.
Learning should be an enjoyable experience for all. I am an Elementary General and Special Education certified by NYS teacher who has worked with many students ranging from 5-10 years old.
I am a great tutor because I am an invested teacher and remain an enthusiastic learner; I have a passion for literature and history, an interest in helping others, and a range of experiences working with many different learners.I graduated cum laude from Amherst College with a B.A. in English and History, I have my M.S. in Childhood Education and Special Education from Touro College, and I have an initial teaching certificate in New York.In addition to my personal education, my experiences in the classroom and my continued work in education have shaped me as an educator. I taught second grade for two years in south Bronx, supporting my 32 students in mastering content in all subjects, including writing, math, and reading. After that, I transitioned to a network office where I now write middle school and high school English Language Arts curriculum and assessments. While I love my current work, I am not in the classroom much anymore. I miss working directly with students, and thus am very interested in tutoring. I have a particular interest in tutoring all elementary subjects, English Language Arts, and U.S. history. While there is a time and a place for "lecture," I believe students do their best thinking when they are answering thoughtful questions both verbally and in writing. Because thinking is the crux of learning, I always strive to have student voices dominating during tutoring sessions.Tutoring sessions are short, so I believe each one should be purposeful. Each session must have a goal that is clear to both me and the student. Because learning is as much about skills acquisition as it is about content knowledge--a student does not want to need a tutor forever!-- these goals should be transferable, and feedback throughout a session should drive toward helping a student achieve that goal.
I attended Suny Old Westbury University for my undergraduate degree. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education and General Education Grades 1-6. I then went on to complete my Bachelor of Science Degree at Touro College in ESL. Before starting a family, I taught in the New York City public school system as a Special Education teacher. I tutor all subjects at the elementary level (grades K-6) since that is where I gained most of my experience; however I can also tutor students in higher grade levels in reading and writing as well. I enjoy tutoring all subjects but would have to choose reading, writing, math, and social studies as my favorites. I love social studies because I love teaching children about the world we live in and its rich history. Math was difficult for me as a child, however now as an adult I see why I had trouble and feel I can help students who are having the same difficulties that I did.I describe my tutoring style as fun and interactive. I believe that learning in any subject can be enjoyable, even though it may be challenging. I like to use manipulatives for a hands-on approach to learning in mathematics and materials for reading and writing that children have an interest in. Outside of teaching, I love to spend time outside with my family any chance I get. I enjoy going to museums, aquariums, amusement parks, and any place that allows me to interact with animals.
