I believe that everything can be learned and taught when there is a right match between a learner and a teacher

Learning is one of the most rewarding, useful, and fun things that a person can do. My goal as a tutor is not only to help students complete assigned tasks and get good grades, but also to understand why the material is important and how it can help them in life. If I can help a student to be motivated to learn, aspire to fulfill meaningful goals, and give them the tools they need to reach those goals, then I will consider the time that I have spent with them as a success.I graduated from University at Buffalo with a B.A. in Math and Economics and an M.S. in Economics with an advanced certificate in Finance. I now work at M&T Bank as a Credit Analyst. I aspire to start my own business next year.I try to put effort into improving at everything that I do because I believe that anything worth doing is worth doing well. Some of my life achievements include, being an all county 1st singles player on my high school tennis team, improving my max bench press by 35lbs in 3 months, running a marathon, climbing a mountain, clearing a 40 feet long ski jump, ranking in the top 10 players in upstate NY in a video game, getting a job in my field immediately after college, being chosen to lead a project at work even though I am one of the newest people there, completing 3 college degrees in 5 years with a high GPA, working at least part time every year since I was in 10th grade, and ranking 1st every week in location accuracy and pulls per week as a backroom team member at Target. I am currently independently learning coding through codecademy.com and freecodecamp.com and am in the process of creating my own website. These things all resulted from the common theme of focused effort and a clear mindset for improvement. Improvement happens when you try to do something, fail, figure out what you're doing wrong, and try to fix it. Everyone can improve at everything if they stay focused, adapt their improvement methods, and try again. It's never too late. Some things take more time than others, but everything is achievable. If you have an idea of what you want to accomplish in the future, start now and you'll be much more likely to get to where you want to be.
To me, teaching provides an opportunity to motivate students to like the subject and to improve their performance through mentoring/advising. This is what inspired me to choose teaching as a career. What a nobler mission than being part of sustaining knowledge from one generation to the next!?I am a graduate of Alexandria University, with a B.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering. In addition, I received a Ph.D. degree from University at Buffalo, Chemical and Biological Engineering Department, in 2015. During that time, I have been working as a teaching assistant and a co-instructor for both undergrad and graduate students, for a broad range of subjects; including: applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, mechanics, and programming. In addition, as a part-time, I have been a private tutor for middle- and high-school students for over 5 years.Although I can tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about teaching: Calculus, Algebra, Linear Algebra, Physics, and Mechanics for all ages and to all levels. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, running, and tutoring my kids!
I am currently a graduate student at the University at Buffalo working on my PhD in mathematics. Before this, I obtained my master's degree from the College at Brockport, at which I spent the following two semesters teaching math courses to college students. While at the College at Brockport I spent three semesters as a math tutor in their Student Learning Center, as part of a graduate assistantship, tutoring courses such as Algebra,Precalculus, Single Variable Calculus, Multi-Variable Calculus, Statistics, and various other courses. I have also tutored students at the University at Buffalo as part of a teaching assistantship. My favorite subjects to tutor are calculus, trigonometry, and algebra. I've taught calculus courses at the college level multiple times, and I thoroughly enjoyed it each time.I believe that understanding how students learn mathematics is essential to teaching and tutoring mathematics. There are many different forms of teaching. I feel that I'm a great tutor because I try to understand how each student learns and then shape my instruction in such a way that will promote that student's understanding. I am always looking for new strategies to help captivate the interest of the students I instruct and tutor in order to help better foster learning. Learning mathematics is a process that requires active involvement, both from the tutor and the student. I continually strive to help all students reach their full potential.
I began tutoring when I was a college sophomore, as a way to reinforce my own coursework. I quickly realized what an enjoyable and rewarding experience being a tutor can be, and I have tried to include teaching in my weekly routine ever since. I believe that every student has the capacity to fully grasp any subject that they put their mind to, and it is the job of the tutor to discover the right way to frame and phrase the material at hand so that it can stick. Each student represents a unique challenge, and every improvement is an accomplishment shared between the tutor and the student. I truly enjoy helping others in their studies, and I appreciate the opportunity to improve my own understanding at the same time.I graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a BS in both Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, and most of my experience has come from tutoring other students at the same school. My favorite topics to teach have been college-level math and science courses, as well as beginning engineering courses. I like to continually reinforce the fundamentals that I have used in higher-level courses and in industry, and I enjoy discussing the applications of those fundamentals with students who may not have seen them before. I have also spent some time tutoring middle and high school math and science, and that has been a rewarding experience as well..
I'm a pre-health student at the University of Pennsylvania, and have an extensive background in the sciences. I can also rock the SATs and MCAT, so I've got that going for me. I love learning with students and trying to make the tedious work of learning as fun as possible. I think and teach in examples and make abstract concepts easily understandable. I also love sports, adventures, travelling!
I am an Honor's College graduate of the University at Buffalo where I received a dual Bachelor's of Arts degree in Biological Sciences and Anthropology. During undergraduate studies, I worked as a tutor for the university's athletics department. I tutored 10-15 students twice a week in subjects varying from Biology (Evolutionary, Cellular, Microbiology), to Anatomy & Physiology to Psychology. I am currently studying for my Medical School Admissions exam, which requires me to master all of the information covered in the above listed classes. Working with so many students from different backgrounds and learning styles was challenging but rewarding. I have garnered an arsenal of teaching techniques which allows me to individualize the way I present course material to each of my students. I find that life science classes are my favorite to teach because their applicability to the real world makes for fun and interesting tutoring sessions. In my spare time, I am an advocate for social justice. I have founded two non-profits at my university; one which focuses on implementing public health infrastructure in low-income countries and one that focuses on building schools with the hopes of creating access to free quality education in rural areas of developing nations. Additionally, I work as lifeguard, swim instructor, and swim coach at my local recreation facility.
I love education. I received a B.A. in psychology as well as a B.A. in sociology at the University at Buffalo. I get so much pleasure and satisfaction from teaching and watching my students grow academically. Right now, I teach kindergarten, but I have taught preschool through Third grade and have also worked with middle and high school children. I also was a teaching assistant at the college level in Psychology and sociology. Phonics, reading, English, language arts, psychology and sociology are my specialties, however, I enjoy teaching any subject. Outside of the classroom, I love to go to the movies, enjoy live theater, read a good book, write, travel, or anything involving the arts. I look forward to helping you or your student reach their education goals!
People always ask me why I chose to become a teacher. The truth is that I always knew. Ever since I was a little girl, my mother would always find me with all my toys lined up in front of me, and me in front of a chalkboard teaching them how to draw. There is really nothing like teaching. I think it is the most gratifying profession in the world. I absolutely love the outcome of what I do because I believe in long lasting relationships and long lasting thirst for knowledge. That is exactly what I teach my students. I teach them that the sky is the limit and that "I can't" should not be a part of their vocabulary. I am great at seeing the potential in everyone and not giving up until they see it too and live up to it.For the past 7 years, I have been a part of a wonderful community while working as a High School I.B. Art Teacher for the American School of Quito in Ecuador. I worked with 11th and 12th graders on the production of high quality art production, careful planning, reflection and written critical analysis with creative problem solving skills. This job has brought enormous opportunities for professional and personal growth. Being part of this demanding program has been very challenging but also filled with rewards. Making students' faces light up when their hard efforts pay off and they finally "get it", is priceless! My I.B. annual scores have always been above world average. My students have participated in national and international art contests with magnificent results with prizes and awards. I have formed an amazing bond with them that, I am sure, will last a lifetime. I still have students who I taught 7 years ago, tell me that what I taught them has stayed with them all these years. And like I said, that is what teaching is all about. That is why I became a teacher.I have good conflict resolution skills, I am patient, I am fair and I have enthusiastic energy. I believe I am qualified for a teaching job within your community and I will make a valuable addition to your team.

Hello! My name is Haylie and I am a current junior at the University at Buffalo. I am majoring in history with a focus on U.S. and minoring in political science. I have always enjoyed writing and editing papers which is part of the reason I was drawn to history as a major. I have worked in the past with students ranging in age from kindergarten - 11th grade.Outside of school, I spend a lot of time writing content for games of Dungeons and Dragons with my friends each week and I enjoy playing video games like Minecraft, Stardew Valley, and more.
I am a 3rd year undergrad at the University at Buffalo, working toward my Mathematics BS with a computer science concentration. I find math exceptionally fascinating; I not only aim to teach an understanding of math but also an appreciation. I have taken courses in Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus (I, II, and III), Geometry, Physics, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Probability, Statistics, and Mathematical Logic. Through my education, I have amassed an understanding of mathematics from multiple angles, and as such I provide a unique lens through which I want to help my students view the subject. Additionally, these courses are fresh in my mind, and so I can recall what did or did not make sense to me and what helped me understand a certain topic - insight I can pass along to my students. Again, I want to instill not only an understanding, but an appreciation for math in my students, as this appreciation will invoke a desire to further their knowledge. In my spare time I play guitar, drums for my band, ski, and watch hockey when I can.
