I am a certified K-6th all core-subject teacher. I specialize in Reading, English for Speakers of Other Languages, and Math. I am passionate about education, and look forward to the opportunity to grow and build relationships with students across the world.

I am a double graduate from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. I received my bachelor's degree in Biology with Spanish and Psychology minors. I also received my MBA with an emphasis on Healthcare administration. I previously tutored all grades at an elementary school primary focused on math and science. I also worked as a tutor at the same school for bilingual students with help in reading, writing, and comprehension. I am most passionate about tutoring Math, Spanish and English language but have a wide arrange of skills and knowledge for other subjects such as Science and Reading. I believe strongly in educating young minds for their future careers and aspirations. I enjoy playing soccer, running, reading and traveling which are all themes in my life that I enjoy speaking about.
I am a soon-to-be graduate of the University of Mary Hardin Baylor's Chemistry program. While attending UMHB I worked as a Teaching assistant where I aided students preparing for quizzes, labs, and exams. I enjoyed helping those who were in the classes I had previously passed and seeing them succeed in a challenging subject like chemistry. I graduate in May of 2021 and hope to pursue grad school for Chemistry later in my life.
Hi! I am a former English teacher who has been working with Varsity Tutors for the last five years. I have an M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction, and I am certified to teach middle school and ESL through the state of Texas. I take professional development courses regularly to maintain my credential and build new skills. I teach all areas of English instruction from phonics and emergent reading to high school literature and writing. I also specialize in test prep for the ISEE and various state exams. My favorite things about working with students through Varsity is working to meet individual student needs and working in a vast variety of content pertaining to English. I might start my morning working on systematic phonics instruction and emergent literacy, hop to elementary school math and reading comprehension, and end the morning studying Shakespeare. I genuinely enjoy working with my students through Varsity and creating unique lessons to meet student needs and interests!
I am a recent graduate from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor, with a Pre-Medical major with a concentration in Honors. I have 2+ years in tutoring experience, and while in college, I worked as a General Chemistry, Biochemistry, and General Chemistry, lab/teaching assistant. I also gained teaching skills by leading lectures for my Ecology course, and honors seminar in college for the Honors Program. This experience that l gained in college fostered my knowledge to be able to create my own research that led to me discovering a potential cure for Fanconi Anemia patients that present with cancer, due to my passions to become a Pediatric Oncologist to fight the battle of childhood cancer. Due to this astonishing experience and discovery, my goal as a tutor is to give my students the abilities and skills to reach their goals and full potential by assisting them with learning the materials and topics in Math, English, Science, and psychology/social sciences that may be challenging, and turning those topics into something that is easily obtainable to master by providing them with the resources they need tailored to their learning styles. I am most passionate about teaching Math, English, Science, such as Biology, and Psychology, because I believe that the subjects are all interconnected to one another, and are vital subjects to have knowledge on due to the fact that they are fundamentally included in a variety of career fields. For instance, in order to conduct certain scientific experiments, you need to employ strategies of math to solve biology and chemistry based problems, and it is also vital to know different psychological concepts to interpret different scientific research questions. I believe that these subjects allow students to express themselves in a unique way. I will create practical real-life examples and practice problems that can help them understand content better, and reinforce content knowledge that they are learning at school in a speed and manner that is most understandable to them. I firmly consider the fact that education is vital to a child's and adolescent's self-growth and self-actualization, enhanced quality of life, and gives individuals the confidence they need to reach their goals. My teaching philosophy will be based on the concept of "self-efficacy", which is an individual's belief in their ability to succeed in specific situations or accomplish a task. When a student struggles with certain concepts and subjects in school, due to certain factors like self-efficacy, or only being taught a subject matter in one way that is not particularly tailored to their learning style or doesn't resonate with them on a deeper level, it can cause students to experience doubt in their capabilities to reach their goals or career aspirations in life. As a tutor, I want to provide students with that extra support and guidance that they need to succeed in the concept areas that they are struggling in, to restore their hope and confidence in their capabilities and talents so they experience fulfillment to go after their life long goals and to continue to dream big, so that they do not feel the need to reduce their goals or stop dreaming of what they can become in this world. My hobbies including reading to continue to further enhance my knowledge, participating in arts and crafts, playing tennis, and spending time with family and friends.
I am an avowed science nerd and Star Trek fanatic who loves helping students learn science! Outside of teaching, I love to read, grow all kinds of vegetables and fruits in my garden, and take care of my chickens, dogs, ducks, and goats. I love the outdoors, and enjoy camping, hiking, kayaking, and stargazing. I have been teaching science for over 20 years, from 5th grade to college students. I have a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology and a Master's of Science degree in Nutrition. I am available to tutor Nutrition, Life Science, High School Biology, AP Biology, and College Biology. I believe that ALL students can learn....it is up to me, as the teacher, to find out how you learn best and then I meet you where you are. I will use a variety of methods to help you learn the concepts with which you are struggling, including computer simulations, videos, discussions, games, models, and hands-on activities where possible. My goal is to build a relationship with you and use YOUR strengths and likes to help you succeed in learning science.
I have been an RN for 20 years. I love my profession and helping others to gain the knowledge and confidence they need in nursing. I tutor CMA, organizational skills, nursing, NCLEX and much more. I would love to work with you and help you be successful.
I am a graduate of The University of Mary Hardin- Baylor in Belton, Texas. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. I am certified to teach early childhood- 6th grade in the state of Texas. I am also certified in English Second Language and Gifted and Talented. I have taught in the classroom for 7 years- 3 years in pre-k, 3 years in 1st grade, and 1 year in 3rd grade ELAR/Social Studies. I have an extensive history working with children in various positions for 15+ years- Awanas leader, church small group leader, soccer coach, and daycare teacher. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about reading. I really enjoyed my last year teaching 3rd grade reading and helping students focus in on passing the reading STAAR test. I am a firm believe in the importance of reading and establishing fluency and comprehension young.
My many experiences as a classroom, hybrid, and online graduate student have given me a unique perspective on what makes an excellent online instructor and what creates a disastrous experience for students. I have 13 years of experience as a classroom instructor and several years as an online tutor. I know the foundation of success for online nursing students is contingent on faculty being able to create a cordial and professional relationship with each student. I have extensive experience with APA formatting and writing style and available for editing APA papers including grammar and flow of the content. My teaching experiences include BSN, ADN, and LPN/LVN programs. These programs are regionally accredited and required instructors to use and create NCLEX structured questions. It is imperative for student success during and after completing school to critically evaluate and analyze nursing practice through difficult and alternative format questions. Unfortunately, NCLEX structured questions can be intimidating for students. As a former Assistant Dean for Academic Success and as an online tutor, I have extensive experience helping students understand and apply their knowledge to decrease test anxiety, decrease frustrations with studying, and increase their confidence. Nothing feels better than to hear from students who discovered their personal learning style and hearing about their successes.
I'm currently a junior at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor working to earn a Bachelors of Arts in Social Studies with a minor in Pedagogy, and a focus on grades 7-12. I aspire to earn a full K-12 certification. At the University, I am a humanities tutor as well as the French TA and tutor. I tutor a wide range of subjects, but my favorites are in the social studies realm. Teaching economics, government, and history is so rewarding because these subjects affect us all every day, and are important to build strong and capable citizens. Ever since I mentored in high school, I have loved helping students determine and achieve their goals. My goal is to give you study skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm for success until you're soaring past me! In my free time I enjoy volunteering as a firefighter, hiking, and watching history documentaries.
The student is the most important part in tutoring, so they should always be at the forefront of the lesson plan. I think this way because I am currently a college student hoping to excel. I've tutored kids in maths such as geometry, algebra, pre-cal etc and plan to tutor algebra and pre-cal. I enjoy math because it helps people to understand the world just like science if not better.
