I received an Undergrad at University of Minnesota Morris, and an MBA from Dominican University of California. I have a BAs in Spanish, Business, & Latin American Studies. I also have an MBA with an emphasis on Sustainability. I have tutored students in Spanish Language, Managerial Accounting, and Cost Accounting. I enjoy tutoring Spanish, Business Studies, Accounting, Economics, etc. Outside of academia I like live music.

I graduated from Harvard Divinity School with a Master of Divinity degree in May 2023. Before this adventure, I served as an English teaching assistant in Hamburg, Germany through the U.S. Fulbright scholarship program. I graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris in 2017, where I earned respective Bachelor's degrees in English, German Studies, and Medieval Studies. All told, I have nearly ten years of formal tutoring experience, particularly in academic and creative writing, reading comprehension, and college test-prep. My tutoring methodology centers around positive psychology, meaning that I encourage students by focusing on their strengths and building confidence in their skills and potential. I believe wholeheartedly in the value of discussion when teaching and learning; neither happens in a vacuum, and as both are constant processes, I recognize that collaboration and patience are key. As such, I consciously invest time and energy into building relationships with my students, and my teaching style lends itself to being informal and conversational. I have particular experience with meeting the needs of students with ADHD, dyslexia, and various forms of autism. I'm excited to connect!

Hi! My name is Shealyn and I am currently an English Language Assistant at an elementary school. I love reading and writing and am passionate about teaching.

I've been a Certified Salesforce Admin and Trainer for 10 years. I've trained over 1,000 users in organizations as small as a dozen people and as large as multi-nationals, working with the Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Nonprofit Success Pack versions. Before discovering Salesforce, I was Director of Training at a nonprofit job-training organization and Assistant Director of a social service organization. I also taught college English for several years. There nothing I enjoy more than seeing the spark of understanding in a student's eye, whatever the topic!

I'm currently studying Economics at the University of Minnesota, and I've been tutoring for a little over two years. I've worked with students in Algebra, AP Calculus AB, AP English Lang, and other subjects, and I really enjoy helping them feel more confident in areas that can sometimes feel intimidating. My goal is to make tutoring a space where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas, not just memorizing formulas or essays. I know everyone learns differently, so I try to adapt to each student's style and strengths. Outside of tutoring, I love reading and traveling, which constantly open me up to new ideas and experiences that I bring into my conversations with students. I am currently working as a 5th grade teacher at a charter school on the northside of Minneapolis. I spend my days teaching the core subjects (reading, math, social studies and science) to primarily ELL, or English language learning, students. I graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris, in 2010, with a major in elementary education, and a minor in sociology. I have been teaching for the past five years in a few different cities around the US. I moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin after graduating and began my career as a teacher in the urban setting. After spending two years there, I moved to Tucson, Arizona, where I taught at an accelerated charter school with a focus on math and science. These diverse teaching experiences, as well as my current position, have taught me so much about how to best lead students to learn. I have many teaching strategies I love sharing with each student I meet, and value adding to my tool box with each session.My hope is to help students fill in any gaps there may be in their foundational skills, model strategies and tips for academic success, build confidence, and challenge students who need to be stretched. I am extremely patient, but I know how valuable our time together is. I will set clear expectations with each student I work with, so we both know what our job will be for each session. I will be sensitive to student's needs, but will do everything I can to keep us focused on the task at hand so this tutoring experience is valuable.

My passion for chemistry began in childhood, where I grew up seeing the practical, real-world impact of science through the application of herbicides in agriculture. My curiosity was heightened in high school by a teacher who approached the subject with such charm and patience that it changed my entire perspective on learning. Today, I strive to bring that same encouragement and clarity to the students I mentor, believing that anyone can excel in chemistry when the content is presented in a way that fits their personal learning style. During my time as a peer-assisted learning tutor, I led bi-weekly study sessions for chemistry students at the university level. Rather than just lecturing, I focused on active engagement by working through practice problems alongside the students, testing their conceptual understanding in real-time, and providing immediate, constructive feedback. I concluded each session by sharing strategic study tips to help students navigate course material more effectively on their own. I am eager to provide that same level of dedicated support to help you achieve your goals and find confidence in the lab and the classroom.
