I really enjoy working with students and giving them the best educational experience possible.
I enjoy helping students build their level of confidence with the material being learned. I believe that when a student feels confident about a subject that the student is more open and willing to work on new concepts and continue to work on complex concepts and skills. In addition, I enjoy giving students the tools that allow them to become successful in the future. I enjoy working with students in any of the social sciences. I am certified to teach 6-12 broad field social sciences, AP US History, AP World History, and AP Psychology. I also have my gifted certification. I have worked with students of all ages and thoroughly enjoy helping students learn and grow when struggling with English related subjects. I earned my Master of Arts in Journalism Mass Communications in Public Relations from Kent State University and a Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Phoenix. As a mom of four, I began college just two days before my 33rd birthday, juggling family responsibilities, education, and employment. I decided to continue my education in pursuit of a Doctor of Philosophy in Education and Organizational Leadership at Liberty University in 2019. I have completed 29 of 60 credit hours, and I hope to continue working toward the completion of that degree in the near future. My passion for teaching developed over time but started when I worked in supportive roles in education through an outreach program and as an elementary school clerk. As I worked in educational roles, my desire to teach deepened, and after completing my Master's degree, I taught adult students at Belhaven University in class and online, where I also served as a student advisor. I desire to help students understand how to successfully think through assignments and course requirements. I have taught College Success and Professional Portfolio courses, which focus on writing from an academic or professional point of view while following specific formatting requirements. I found I truly enjoy coaching/tutoring students on writing. I tutor students in writing for many subjects such as English, Creative Writing, Media, Professional Writing, and Business or Marketing courses. I also enjoy tutoring students on how to break down assignments to complete each task, find appropriate and credible information sources, with empowering engagement. Language and writing are foundational for everything a student learns. From day-to-day communication to ongoing professional development, the written word is paramount for success. Students who learn how to appropriately write for academic studies can be successful learners and successful professionals. Outside of education, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, walking, hiking, writing, biblical studies, television, and movies. I also serve as a marketing professional for a local nonprofit. My husband and I enjoy venturing to coffee shops and interesting restaurants, especially when we travel. We enjoy traveling on laid back adventures that allow us to wander and explore. I have self published two books: a Christian devotional and a Bible Study.
I have always believed that teaching is basic part of humanity. Arguably, humans are the most adaptive species of all. Part of our success comes from our natural ability to instruct each other. I became more interested in teaching after homeschooling my troubled middle son. I have eight grandchildren today, so I am comfortable with sharing my son's rough path through childhood. He was doing terribly. The school had given up on him and asked me to help. My answer was to unenroll him. I was self-employed at the time and this was a reasonable choice for me. After three years, he earned high marks on his GED and went on to college. I considered teaching as a profession after earning my state instructor certification in law enforcement. Also, while in college, I found myself being an informal tutor to other students. Now I am here, ready to learn and grow while I help others learn and achieve.
I bring with me 31 years of experience in education. Before earning my Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education in 2000 from Troy State University, I worked approximately ten years as a paraprofessional. It was during those years that I began preparing for a dream that I had from the time I was in 5th grade. I earned my Masters of Education in Adult Education and Training in 2013 from the University of Phoenix. I am highly qualified to teach grades K-6 in elementary general subject areas. I am certified in special education K-12. I am currently employed as a reading intervention and special education teacher at an alternative school in Alabama. I am also employed as an Adult Education Instructor at a local community college. My past experience in education includes teaching math to multi-grade sex offenders at a youth facility; teaching 4th and 5th grade elementary general subjects, tutoring elementary and middle-school students in the areas of math and English, and preparing adults for obtaining their GED. In addition to teaching in public school settings, I have been a Sunday school teacher in my church for 16 years. Teaching is not just a job for me. It is a ministry. My heart is filled with joy when I am able to help a struggling student reach a goal that he or she felt they were unable to reach. I pride myself on having patience that many of our students need from others. Others have described me as being that teacher who can reach those who can't be reached. I am a firm believer that every one can learn, but everyone may not learn in the same way or time frame. Failure is not option. My success as a teacher is not based on my book knowledge, but on the wisdom and knowledge that I have been blessed with.
Tutoring is a lifelong hobby that allows me to help others and give back. I enjoy helping others excel, encouraging them to be all that they can be while challenging them to reach their highest potential.

I graduated from The University of Phoenix in 2010. I obtained a Business Management Bachelors degree which helped me to be successful in the Banking Industry. In 2012 I got certified to teach English and Spanish through the Canadian Institute of English. I obtained a TESOL certificate which helps students to learn these languages as a second language. I utilize a total of 40 methods to help my students; methods like visual aids, video, songs, drawing, etc. I was a private Spanish teacher/tutor in Arizona for one year then I moved to the Country of Bolivia for one year to expand my teaching skills. There I was able to teach Spanish and English as a Second Language. Many foreigners were very interested in learning the Country's language which is Spanish. This gave me the opportunity to help them with the Spanish language and also the culture. The Bolivians have a lot of appreciation for the English language, being able to help them to learn was a great satisfaction because I was able to implement my knowledge and skills. It was a wonderful experience specially teaching Spanish to different individuals with different backgrounds.I currently tutor Spanish. Even though I am also capable of tutoring the English language I decided to tutor Spanish because I love the Spanish language. My aspiration to teaching and tutoring Spanish has not only been influenced by the fact that Spanish is my primary language but also because I love my culture and love to share it with the individuals that are interested in learning it.My teaching philosophy is to help the student to make progress. They need to feel satisfied knowing that they are not only understanding the language but they are able to express it. How do I that? I help the student to be immerse in the Spanish language during 90% of each class. Regardless the level of Spanish the student is learning, that student is constantly involved in with interactions of the language. I do this by implementing my teaching methods. For example if the student's comprehension of the language is very minimum then drawing and speaking Spanish at the same time the student can comprehend what I am trying to communicate. This way the student assimilates the meaning of my message. My main goal is to help the student's ability to communicate in the real world. This achievement does not only helps the student to continue to learn and grow but it helps me to continue to learn and grow as well. My greatest satisfaction comes from knowing that my students are learning, understanding and making comments like "Because the instructor was always enthusiastic about the class and had a genuine interest in helping me, it made the class more interesting for me." This helps me to see I have reached the student and reassures why I love teaching/tutoring.My interests outside of teaching is to travel. Not only have I traveled extensively around the US., but I had the opportunity to visit other Countries as well. Among the Countries I have visited include: Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Monaco, France, Mexico, Peru and Bolivia. I am also involved in a volunteering worldwide work that helps individuals to become better individuals in society. For example to have a happier family, or to be better parents including single parents, help the young ones to become respectful individuals by making wise choices in their life and also help the children to be obedient to their parents and respectful to others. I love doing this because it plays an important role in my life and teaching experience. Over all, helping others is my goal. I do my best at what I do and I am always looking for areas of improvement to become a better individual each day.
