As a mom of a young child, clinician and advocate to college students I know the challenges that arise with balancing academics, social like and growing up in todays society. I am well diversed with helping in several areas academically and socially to build confidence and competence. My motto "I am not telling you it is going to be easy, I'm telling you it's going to be worth it. "

I enjoy helping students build their level of confidence with the material being learned. I believe that when a student feels confident about a subject that the student is more open and willing to work on new concepts and continue to work on complex concepts and skills. In addition, I enjoy giving students the tools that allow them to become successful in the future. I enjoy working with students in any of the social sciences. I am certified to teach 6-12 broad field social sciences, AP US History, AP World History, and AP Psychology. I also have my gifted certification. In my 24 years of teaching, I have taught literacy, World Geography, US History, AP World History, Pre-AP US History, AP Psychology, World History, Enrichment, and Georgia Studies.

In my experience, helping struggling students learn effective math strategies that help them understand concepts and master them while making it a positive experence prevents them from despising math. I also prepare for Standardized Tests (with remarkable advancements), by making it fun and keeping them encouraged as they learn how to take their knowledge and understanding of math and apply them to a standardized environment.I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling and visiting historical sites that which enriches my life, expand my knowledge and gives me a better understanding of how to relate to people.

I have worked with a lot of children and adolescents as a counselor in the mental health field. I believe that being able to communicate well helps in the mentoring relationship. I would like to introduce myself to all the wonderful students. I am an educator in the Atlanta metropolitan area. I possess fifteen years of experience teaching in the disciplines of the Social Sciences, Reading, and Mathematics. My pursuit as a life-long learner started in the public school system of New Orleans, Louisiana. Next, I received bachelors degrees in Social Science and Secondary Education from Alabama State University. At this great institution, I played football and was a member of many campus civic groups. The next milestone had me receiving my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Central Michigan University and my educational specialist’s degree from Argosy University. Finally, I find myself embarking on a dream to become the first in my immediate family to receive a doctoral degree.I hold a deep passion for education (Creative Reading, Writing, History, Geography, Social Studies, ect.) and for helping students of all ages. My goals are to inspire and enhance students with the skills to maximize their potential. Away from work, I enjoy flag football, basketball, poetry and cultural arts festivals. My music list and my iPod are a must for easing my mind. I look forward to using my talents to helping you reach your goals.
My passion for education began during my college years, when I accepted a tutoring position at a local elementary school. At the time, I did not fully understand how powerful academic support could be for students who needed encouragement, structure, and individualized attention. Working with children in low-performing schools near my college helped me realize that tutoring was much more than helping students complete assignments. It was about building confidence, creating meaningful connections, and helping young learners see that success was possible for them. That experience became a turning point in my life and helped shape my commitment to education. As I continued tutoring, I learned the importance of meeting students where they are academically and personally. Many students need more than repeated instruction; they need someone who can identify gaps in understanding, explain concepts differently, and celebrate progress along the way, Ed.D. Ed.S, MMNGT.
