I am a Highly Motivated, Highly Accomplished Professional who is committed to the success of others. I excelled in the goals my family and I set for my self 17 years ago. Therefore, it is my desire to give back to others in the community/ to others in the world to assist them in accomplishing their goals too.I have a Master's degree and I have the same tests you are taking. I have been in your shoes. It is my goal to alleviate the anxiety, fears, and discouragement that often times come from having to take standardized tests.I make learning fun and engaging for Elementary and Middle School students. I take a "personal approach" to your sessions. My job is to cater to your needs. I spend my first session helping you create a goal /road map for your success.
I have been teaching high school math and SAT test prep since 2002 and GRE prep since 2008.When I am working with a student, I find it is best to first determine what areas they struggle with. Do they need help with basic concepts? Do they need help, in general, with test-taking? Once I am clear on what areas we need to focus on, we can really start to make progress. I feel that different approaches work with different students. The type of learner a student is will dictate how I can best help them succeed. I enjoy tutoring and interacting with all students whether they are "terrible" at math, or simply need a refresher!
As a tutor, I will plan, create and adapt lessons to build student confidence and help students succeed academically. Throughout my experience as a teacher, I have learned how to match instruction to individual need to close achievement gaps. I will work to target a student's area of need as relative to the curriculum and content by assessing their abilities. I will help your child to think in new ways, I can give them material to match their instructional level while being sure that they are never feeling frustrated. I am warm, friendly and personable and will help your child feel comfortable in their tutoring environment. I will strive to be the best teacher I can to allow students to grow and learn, that is my ultimate goal.I have been in the field of education for the past eight years. I am a teacher for Lexington Public Schools. I am certified to teach elementary school (grades 1-6) but I am also certified in teaching ESL and I have experience working with younger children as I previously taught at a nursery school. Working with children has always been a passion of mine. As a child, I would "tutor" other children through my mother's at-home day care. As young as eight years old, I was teaching the concepts of letter sounds and addition. Now, into my adult years, I have carried this passion all the way through. I earned my Master's Degree immediately upon finishing my Undergraduate Degree. I have even gone on to receive thirty graduate credits beyond my Master's Degree which allows me to constantly reflect on my practice as a teacher to make room for improvement. I have my professional teaching license through the state of Massachusetts. I am a member of my school's Data Teams to discuss student concerns and come up with strategies to meet their needs in the classroom through regular education supports. I also serve on the Superintendent's Roundtable in my district where I meet with the Superintendent to discuss curriculum and new initiatives as they impact the district. Furthermore, I am a mentor to new teachers. I coach and guide them to show them new and innovative ways to teach while simultaneously helping them to feel comfortable and confident in their practice. I am articulate and driven and to me, the greatest gift is that of teaching. The feeling you get when you see a child apply a concept you taught them is unlike any other. I want to be the one to help your child succeed.Though I am a full-time classroom teacher, tutoring has always been one of my favorite hobbies. I enjoy having the opportunity to work with students one-on-one to truly allow them to get the individual instruction and attention they need and deserve. I also enjoy reading, running and exercising in general. I am an aunt to three lively boys and a beautiful baby girl. I spend a lot of time with my family and friends.

It gives me, Dr. Tiffani Leverett, great pleasure and the utmost honor to have the opportunity to work with you. I have been an educator for 20-plus years, with 22 years of successful classroom teaching, and am currently working with teachers on teacher development for a school district, helping improve and grow our educators. Some of my accolades include being Teacher of the Year twice in my career at two different schools and being one of the only Georgia Master Teachers in my county. Google it! My WHY for loving being an educator is that the profession chose me, not the other way around. Despite any obstacles, I teach because I'm passionate about learning and growing, and I love helping others do the same. I am really excited to help you reach your academic goals by providing customized support that best fits your needs. I love to teach! I like to be that person that will help you say "I get it!" Sharing my knowledge, especially my culture and and language, has become my life passion. In teaching I have found what I do best and what makes me happy. I have experience tutoring Spanish for fifteen years to students from children to adults. I arrived from Honduras twenty five years ago. I had my High School diploma and I did not speak a word of English. I went to school and worked hard to achieve my ultimate goal which was to be the first one in my family to earn a college degree. My children now are following my footsteps. I am living my dreams every day.
I have been working in education for the past 9 years and have fallen deeper in love with every passing year. Learning is fun and should always be fun; my goal is to make every student I encounter feel good and comfortable about approaching new and challenging topics and concepts.
