I have a passion for the promotion of professional development through training and demonstrated in my work experience. Not only am I fluent in French and English, but I have worked simultaneously in both languages for fifteen years. My experience includes teaching French to business clients (in New York) and college students (in New Jersey) and also teaching English (English as a Second Language) to government officers and other professionals in the private and public sector overseas.I love teaching, especially languages. I use participatory methods that encourage students to communicate effectively in the target language. I am proud of my achievements and hope to continue to instill the love of languages to my students.I am a French native speaker; I've studied in Geneva (Switzerland) and France. I have a French Baccalaureate because all my primary and high school were done in the French language. We speak French at home. I am an alumna of the City University of New York where I earned a BA in Environmental Earth Science from Hunter College and a PhD in Earth and Environmental Sciences from The Graduate Center. My undergraduate research focused on geochemistry, geology, and soil chemistry. The bulk of my PhD work was centered on a numerical model of geologic processes within ancient 4 billion year old asteroids using Fortran90 in conjunction with MATLAB. I have 2 years of experience mentoring and tutoring college juniors and seniors. I have also led tours of the American Museum of Natural History that covered topics like gems and minerals, the geology of Manhattan's skyscrapers, and the history of the Solar System. Given my background, I am most effective at tutoring college to graduate level environmental science, geology, and MATLAB programming. I believe that education should be accessible to all who seek it and I endeavor to nurture curiosity about the natural world.

I have taught and tutored students of all ages, from preschool to undergraduate, particularly enjoying my work with ESL students and students with disabilities. I am especially passionate about foreign languages, the humanities, and social sciences. I received four consecutive gold medals on the National Latin Exam when I was in high school, so I am eager to help students who are struggling with the subject. I also specialize in the areas of English-language writing, grammar, and reading comprehension. I have wanted to be a teacher from a rather young age, and I am grateful to have the chance to help dedicated students to achieve academically.

Through my experience in the theatre, I can make you a bold and effective public speaker; as a historian, I can take you deeply into world and American history to prepare you for your AP exams; as a scholar, I have expert knowledge of Latin and can teach it at all levels. I have written dozens of essays and plays, and have published peer reviewed scholarship on the subjects of theatre and religion. Having worked my way up from a small four year college in South Texas to a the top doctoral program in Legal Psychology in the U.S., Psychology and Law at the Graduate Center in NYC, I feel I have a good grasp at what one needs to focus on and train in order to rise the ranks to reach the goals they would like to achieve. That being said, that all starts in the graduate school application. If I can help a student navigate the application process through test-taking tutoring or emotional/social support, I will feel like I have paid it forward to the countless internet services and human beings alike that have helped me get to where I am now. I have a year experience of teaching college students not only the subject matter of Psychology, but the life lessons one learns in college and how to fine-tune skills in order to make them most successful in their individual career endeavors.

I am a graduate of the Schreyer Honors College at the Pennsylvania State University. I received my B.A. in English with a minor in Spanish. Currently, I am pursuing my Master’s degree in Comparative Literature at The CUNY Graduate Center with a language focus on Spanish texts and an interest in the American Romantic Movement. I have always had a strong interest in English grammar and composition, and I have tutored that subject area extensively both during my undergraduate studies and at present. My strength is SAT test prep, both Verbal and Writing, as well as Critical Reading and Composition practice. Strong language skills are critical for a student’s success and advancement every step of the way, from elementary school to future growth in the workplace. During tutoring sessions, my goal is to help my students gain not only the skill sets necessary to read critically and write competently, but also to gain a love of reading that will last a lifetime. I try to challenge myself every day to do one thing that pushes me out of my comfort zone, whether it be going for a long run or bike ride to a new part of the city, speaking up in class with a question, or embracing a public speaking opportunity. I have found that when I take a small step towards meeting a challenge, then the next time a big, menacing problem comes around, it just does not seem so bad.

I earned a Ph.D in Physics and have an MBA, and have a 40 years of professional experience that includes over ten years of teaching at Universities and Colleges. Three years of teaching is at undergraduate level teaching business management and eight years of teaching physics and computer science courses also at undergraduate level. I enjoy tutoring and helping students master the concepts, learn the fundamentals and acquire expertise in Physics, Math, and Business. A former satellite industry executive for over 35 years, also a proven business entrepreneur and an inventor of global aircraft surveillance using satellites, with experience in International Business Development, Marketing, Product Development and Strategy in telecommunication industry. With a Doctorate in Physics, my knowledge of Physics and math is of the highest caliber. I have utilized math while teaching Physics and Business courses. I am an expert in all areas of Physics. I have experience teaching various Physics courses in University environment. With MBA in International Management and an experience in developing high technology business in management and executive roles, I am an expert in all areas of business. For the past three years, I have enjoyed teaching courses in decision making, entrepreneurship, small business management and leadership at University level with strong reviews by students. My goal is to make learning difficult subjects such as Physics and Math fun by relating it to real life, but with an eye towards teaching the fundamentals and develop skills that promote mastering the subject matter and build expertise. Sara is the Director of Counseling at the Buxton School, a college-prep boarding school in Massachusetts with a 3:1 student-to-faculty ratio and a 100% college placement rate. In that role, she uses her training as a Master of Social Work to help students set goals, navigate big decisions, and plan for the transition to college. Sara previously worked in college admissions, and draws on this experience to guide students and families. Sara is a firm believer that -- while undeniably challenging -- the college planning and admissions process can be a deeply meaningful and rewarding journey, and that with the right care and support each student can approach this transition with clarity, confidence, and a stronger sense of self.

I am a doctoral candidate in Psychology at the CUNY Graduate Center. I have been teaching statistics at the undergraduate level for the past 9 years, as well as assistant teaching masters- and doctoral-level statistics courses at NYU and CUNY. I also worked with professors across disciplines at CUNY for 3 years to integrate quantitative literacy development into their curricula.I received a Bachelor of Music in flute performance and have taught private flute lessons, music theory, band, and classroom music for over a decade at a number of private, parochial, public, and arts schools. I am currently a teaching artist for the Bronx Arts Ensemble.

I have a BA from the University of Maryland College Park in Spanish, Russian, and Secondary Education, and an MA from CUNY Graduate Center in Urban Education. I taught Spanish for 7 years in middle and high school and I tutored high school Spanish students of all levels after school. I lived in Spain for a semester in 2005 and I absolutely loved it! I also lived in St. Petersburg, Russia for an academic year and it was the experience of a lifetime. I currently run an online store selling my teaching materials. I enjoy getting creative with the Spanish language! Teaching is a passion of mine and I am very enthusiastic. I enjoy watching students learn and grow and I love Spanish culture and the language (and even the grammar!). Spanish can be challenging but also a lot of fun!I love traveling and I have been fortunate enough to have been abroad a few times and seen much of Europe and Russia. I went to Greece and Italy for 2 weeks this summer, and I also visited San Francisco for the first time! I love camping and kayaking, and just generally getting out of the city. I have an adorable guinea pig and sometimes I enjoy knitting. :)

Recently I've graduated from the CUNY Graduate Center in Manhattan with a Master's in Liberal Arts. I wrote my thesis on the rise of vigilante heroes in Marvel Comics during the early 1980s and how these reflected the same time period in New York City. I have lived in New York for the past two and a half years in Manhattan, Brooklyn and now Ridgewood, Queens. In 2012 I graduated Trinity College in Hartford, CT with a degree in Sociology. During my undergraduate years at Trinity, I had the opportunity to travel and study in Cape Town, South Africa. During that time I volunteered in both prisons and townships working with students on reading and language skills as well as arts and crafts. I also had the chance to meet with several street artists who gave me a tour and discussed the street art history in Cape Town. These experiences have helped me in promoting learning as a way to strengthen one's life and gain opportunities that may have seemed impossible before. I love reading, art especially illustration, mural and street art as well as comics and graphic novels. I love different types of music from Hip Hop to Rock, Jazz, and Reggae and try to see different bands in my spare time.

I believe I can teach mathematics to anyone who wants to learn it, for whatever reason. The motivation is the most important factor. I happen to love the subject, and this just means that I enjoy talking about it and communicating about it. Mathematics is about knowing what you know, and knowing what you do not know - what could be more important than that?
