I am a middle school, high school, and college writing tutor! I love to write and empower my students to feel confident with their words. Every person has a unique story- I would love to help you tell it. That's my specialty.I also have an extensive background in theatre and public speaking! If your student is looking to improve their confidence on stage, with their lines, or with writing and presenting speeches, I'm your girl!My favorite subject is creative writing (stories, poetry, plays, scripts, songs, college essays etc.). I also specialize in academic writing (introductory concepts, structuring essays, reading/writing responses, citations, college application essays etc.). I've found that even a few hours of one-on-one attention with a student can boost their letter grade and confidence through the roof!I am a graduate from ECSU with a bachelors in English with over four years of experience in tutoring. I loved building relationships with my students and watch their creativity blossom, and I'm so excited to join a platform to connect me with growing minds.I am available for online and in-person tutoring sessions. I am fully vaccinated and adhere to all CDC recommendations. If you see a time not listed under my availability, we could probably work something out.Let's write something awesome together!

I currently am going into my sophomore year of college as a math major for secondary education! I have tutored previously and it brightens my mood when I am able to help students improve their goals within education. Beyond math, I have strength in writing essays and papers, including creating a thesis. I like to work with students who need help proofreading and constructing essays especially when grammar needs strengthening! I have experience tutoring writing for 1 year prior to joining Varsity Tutors. When tutoring with me, I try to make you as comfortable as possible with any questions you may have! Working together with my clients to understand concepts is something I am very open-minded about as there are many ways to tackle the work that needs to be done. I am here to help meet your goals and am looking forward to do just that!
Working as a teacher and tutor has been my goal since childhood. Following in my mother's footsteps, I began working with children at a young age and have not stopped since. I attended Eastern Connecticut State University and received a Bachelor's in English along with a Secondary teaching certificate. I then went to George Mason University and received my Master's in Linguistics with a TESL certification. I have always loved school, which allows me to instill that joy in my students to get them motivated. I believe in a comfortable and communicative environment for my students to thrive in. A main focus in my ESL teaching philosophy is to allow the transition from my sessions to a new environment, such as their school classroom, as easy as possible. Providing students with comfort in the language, speaking skills, and range of motivating activities will prepare them for this transition. The same idea can be applied with SAT prep. The main focus in my sessions to get students comfortable with taking the test. While your student will work hard and learn a lot, I will never put unnecessary pressure on them. I understand that every student has a different learning style and I will adjust to them to alleviate any pressure they feel.
My conversational style of teaching English has been very successful. Prior to teaching English in Ukraine for three years, I taught four years in the Hartford region for CREC. I was fortunate to have students from all over the world. This is very exciting for me and very rewarding. I have also taught EFL in Moscow, Russia for two years and while in the Peace Corps I taught English in Sierra Leone, West Africa. I have a BS degree in education from Eastern Connecticut State University and was a high school social studies teacher in Connecticut for five years. I love teaching and working with people to help them reach their goals. It is very rewarding. I am proud to say that I have helped people pass international English exams so they could continue their education in an English-speaking country, move to an English-speaking country, take jobs overseas, and travel to any country in the world. I teach conversational English which has been proven to be the best method of teaching a language. I am friendly, experienced and I am motivated to help my students. I will insure a comfortable, interesting and fun lessons. I believe in using my students experiences and goals to teach. I also believe in humor and will keep lessons fun.
Greetings!I'm here because I genuinely enjoy helping others succeed and I will tell you a little about myself below!I graduated with my Master's degree in Secondary Education at Eastern Connecticut State University. I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Meteorology...so, if you ever need to know about the weather, I'm your guy!I've been tutoring mathematics and other select subjects (such as English, Science, and SAT prep) for the last 13 years now (ranging from college classrooms to businesses like Sylvan Learning). I truly enjoy seeing others succeed and knowing that I can help! For the last few years, I've taught grade 7 math as a classroom teacher; but, I have plenty of experience (especially with student teaching) with high school material ranging from Algebra I, all the way to AP materials (I tutored Calculus in college).Outside of tutoring, I love to play music (I'm a drummer) and I'm obsessed with PCs - I've built my own!I've been told that I'm hard-working and very friendly. I am very passionate about Mathematics and Meteorology. I'm very quick to notice even the slightest mistake in my students' work - I would say that's my best quality - I see a misunderstanding of some sort and can explain it in numerous ways based on the way each individual student learns. I will make sure that you fully understand the content I'm tutoring you in.I can promise that if you get me as your tutor, the time will fly by - I'm a very approachable, fun person by nature. I grew up on Long Island. After I graduated high school I decided that school in Connecticut would be the best. Eastern Connecticut State University had great programs and I would also be near family. During my time at Eastern I studied many different things. I entered the general studies program and in 2005 I graduated with a business degree in business administration.???A few years after graduation I decided that business was not for me. I thought of what made me happy and I realized I had always loved two things: Teaching and English. I made this realization after being in a trainer position at the job I currently held. So back to school I went. By 2012 I had earned a degree in English and in December 2015 I received my masters in secondary education. I hold a current Connecticut Teacher Certification (015).I spend my time running races, traveling, reading, and hanging out with my husband and our families. I'm part of the Hogwarts Running Club which is a non-profit club that has runners compete virtual races for charity. All the races are based on The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. In addition to this, I am teaching myself French, German, and Irish. I believe that learning should never stop. Different languages cause your brain to think about syntax, grammar, and words differently. Thinking differently makes it possible to look at situations with new perspective. In teaching, as well as teaching, perspective can help you reach and inspire many different people.
Writing is a passion of unexplainable intensity to me. Every day I think about the ways I can be a better writer, which often makes me a better thinker, and that's what I desire for everyone I tutor to also feel. That's the philosophy I've approached tutoring with in the past, both officially and unofficially, academically or otherwise.I not only want more people to feel excitement when it comes to writing, but I also want them to feel a sense of confidence. It is such a fun, and explorative, outlet for me and I find it hard not to want to share that experience with others, even if it is not also their passion. I hope that I can open doors in the minds of my students that help them consider writing in ways they never have before, rather than as an academic chore or boring mode of conveying information. No matter where my path in life takes me, that's always my first and foremost driving vision as a writing, and overall English, enthusiast. I hope to use my current BA in English, and eventual MFA in Creative Writing, to continue aiming towards this ever-evolving goal.
