Part mad scientist, part caring teacher and tech evangelist, this "Near Wizard" spreads the magic of code and automation wherever he goes.I specialize in Computer Science, Programming, and Mathematics including Calculus I, Probability & Statistics, Linear Algebra, SAT Math, and GRE Quantitative and Verbal.I am a software engineer and educator with an interest in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Artificial Intelligence applications.Outside of school I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, rock climbing, and kayaking.I'm excited to work with you!

I'm an instructor with 5+ years of teaching and tutoring experience. I'm enthusiastic about helping students meet their own goals and develop useful skills. I began tutoring as an undergraduate, for history, French, German, and Latin. I also have extensive experience editing English essays (my own, those of my peers, and those of my students.) I spend a lot of time thinking about these subjects, and about how to help others understand them better. When I'm not doing academic work, I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen and exploring on my bicycle. I attempt to bring the same creativity and adventurousness to tutoring as I do to these pursuits.
My passion for teaching stems from a philosophy instilled in me by my 4th grade teacher, 'anything worth doing, is worth doing well'. My goal for educating students is to challenge them to be curious, courageous, creative, and critical thinkers in order to empower children to take charge of their own success. Learning needs to be intentional, energetic, hilarious, focused, motivating, and inspiring, which requires passionate educators, such as myself, to create environments where all of this is possible. I approach education from a whole-child perspective. A student's success is not based solely on their academic achievement, but their social/emotional development, their relationships with their peers, family, surrounding community, culture, and world. This enveloping philosophy begins with developing a student's character, heart, intellect, and creativity equally; the things that resonate from their core, so that their success is not based purely on academic standing, but who they are as a person. I love each and every one of my students and I make sure they know and feel this in the way I relate to them. Their success is directly linked to my commitment to making it so.
I believe education, especially self-education, is the cornerstone of human endeavor. I don't mean this in the traditional sense. School (i.e. traditional education) is a means to an end. What is that end? The formation of thoughtful fellow humans.Thoughtful (thought full!) humans bring inquisition to everything. That means they think about math but also sports and love and history and progress. I hope to help not only with specific learning goals but also to guide in the formation of tools that will help students explore the world more rigorously and less monotonously.I look forward to creative exploration!
I am a graduate of Messiah College and Western Governors University with two Master's degrees in education. During my second Master's (which gave me my teaching certificate) I substitute taught for almost 4 years in the elementary grades. I have been an ESL tutor as well as a Math tutor and private teacher for a family. I tutor a variety of subjects but am most passionate about Math and English. In my experience, tutoring does not have to be monotonous and boring. There can be engaging pieces that make it fun for students that lead them to want to come back and learn.
I believe in personal growth, life-long learning, and practical application of lessons-learned. I hope to inspire others by passing on the love of all three.
I firmly believe that learning should be enjoyable for students. At times, it will be challenging and boring, but the overall process ought to be somewhat exciting and satisfying. Not all educators have the ability to create an enjoyable learning environment this could be due to large class sizes, limited class time, lack of resources, or inadequate training. As a tutor, I use the unique opportunities of one-on-one and small group sessions to form personal connections with students, in an effort to discover what sort of experience they need to enjoy learning the material. I think that students need to be comfortable in their learning environment so they can make mistakes and ask for help, when necessary. I tutor primarily biology and chemistry at the high school and undergraduate levels, as well as admissions exams, such as the ACT, the GRE, and the MCAT. My true passion is at the interface of biology and chemistry in the areas of biochemistry and molecular biology. I find it fascinating to learn about how fundamental concepts of chemistry allow biological organisms to function effectively. During my undergraduate career, I worked as a teaching assistant in a lower-level animal anatomy and physiology course and in an upper-level biochemistry course. Furthermore, I have mentored underclassmen by helping them through courses that I took in previous years. I have earned a B.S. in Molecular Biology from Messiah College and I am working towards a Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Drexel University. When I am not lost in the world of academia, I enjoy spending time in nature, reading science-fiction books, and cooking plant-based foods.
I am a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing pursuing my Master of Science in Nursing. I obtained my BA from Messiah University in Criminal Justice but shortly after graduating in 2016 I enrolled into an EMT certification program and began working on an ambulance in 2017.I quickly found a love for EMS and in 2018 I began working toward obtaining my Paramedic Certification. Since completing my paramedic program, I started working as a NYC Paramedic in the 9-11 system and shortly after I began working as a lab instructor and lecturer for EMT and Paramedic cohorts. I have found a passion for helping students learn, guide them in the right direction to find answers, further their understanding of material, aide in their overall healthcare career development, and ultimately help the students achieve their goals.I believe a crucial part of being a strong member of a healthcare team and work environment is to always continue to learn. I am most passionate about prehospital care in EMS; however, pursuing a career in nursing is opening my eyes to new information and clinical practices that can be utilized to perfect my craft no matter what role I work one day.

I look forward to meeting you!

I am an attending music education student working towards my bachelors degree. I come from an arts and humanities based high school which really fostered my interest in teaching. My main interest is teaching music theory, but I am also comfortable teaching English, reading/writing, biology, chemistry, and arithmetic. I fell in love with teaching via many amazing mentors that I've had throughout my life. Something about watching other's learn and understand topics that I've taught them is so enticing and exhilarating to me. From a young age, I've been fascinated with the ins and outs of what makes the world work, and when I discovered my passion of music, this fascination directly applied to music theory. I have experience teaching kids from ages 5-18 and have worked with various adults all in the musical theater environment.
I spent nearly 10 years certifying and tutoring in math, reading, the SAT and ACT. I have seen a wide variety of learning styles and know the importance of creating a relaxed, adaptable, and engaging learning environment. I believe that the fostering of confidence is a vital element of the academic process.
I am currently enrolled in occupational therapy school, where I am learning how people process information and develop skills in ways that work best for them. This training has strengthened my belief that learning is not one-size-fits-all and that students thrive when teaching is tailored to their individual needs. Alongside my studies, I have experience nannying and helping children with homework, where I've learned how to break down challenging concepts, adapt my approach, and support students with patience and encouragement. I enjoy helping students build confidence and discover strategies that make learning feel more manageable and motivating. I am passionate about working with students to find methods of learning that truly work for them and creating a supportive environment where they feel capable and successful.

I recently graduated magna cum laude with honors from Messiah University (located near Harrisburg, PA) with a B.S. in biochemistry (ACS certified). This fall I will be starting a biochemistry Ph.D. at Cornell University. While a student at Messiah, I served as a supplemental instruction leader for general chemistry courses. This involved sitting in on the lectures and holding two 90 minute review sessions each week in which I would create worksheets and activities to help students to learn and retain the information from the course. I really enjoy working with students in chemistry and biology courses, as I love sharing my passion for science with others. Furthermore, I believe that students have different learning styles and as a tutor it is my job to accommodate whichever learning style best suits each student. I value getting to know my students on a personal level as well as an academic level in order to best help them succeed. Outside of academics, I'm an avid distance runner, love hiking and being outside, listening to music, and doing jigsaw puzzles.

I am a graduate of Messiah University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Health Science and am currently pursuing my Master's degree in Occupational Therapy. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am particularly passionate about anatomy and math. I love helping students gain confidence by breaking down complex concepts into simple, understandable steps, making learning both engaging and fun. My teaching style emphasizes visual aids and mnemonics, which I find highly effective in reinforcing knowledge. I believe every student has the potential to succeed when given the right tools and support, and it brings me joy to walk alongside them in their academic journey. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading, crafts, skiing, and golf.
I grew up in a school that didn't believe in adjusting to student learning styles. I always felt like I was stupid because I struggled every year, while my classmates seemed to understand everything I couldn't! Turns out, I had undiagnosed ADHD! Now, diagnosed in my 30s, and with 3 children of my own, I work hard to advocate for creativity and student empowerment in classrooms. Learning doesn't HAVE to be a struggle! Learning SHOULD be fun! I know first hand how hard it is to try and force your brain to absorb information in ways it simply isn't designed to. So, my goal is to break that cycle, to inject positivity, hope, creativity, and passion into learning. Every student deserve the chance to learn and grow in the way that makes sense to THEM! So let's figure that out together!
I am so excited to partner with you on your academic journey! I just finished my Bachelor in Applied Health Science and am currently in graduate school obtaining my Master's in Occupational Therapy. I also have lots of experience working with kids, so I can also tutor any subject at an elementary or middle school level. Additionally, I have experience with AP Biology, AP Psychology, AP US History, and AP Language and Composition, and would love to help you prepare for your AP exam. I truly believe that learning doesn't have to be boring, and I always do my best to bring energy and compassion to sessions with my students!
