I'm a 4th year medical student. I graduated college with magna cum laude and I was the valedictorian of my high school class. My interest grew from having great teachers and mentors. They taught me that just having the knowledge doesn't make one a great tutor. Instead, teaching is an art, which is excelled through proper preparation and experience.I show up to every tutoring session prepared with a lesson plan and practice questions. However, while being prepared is important, I am always ready to change up the lesson plan based on the student's need. It is important to assess the student's learning style. While some students learn quicker through doing practice questions, others are visual learners and need more of a creative approach.I have a lot of experience in tutoring. My first tutoring experience was as a junior in high school. I tutored students starting from elementary school to high school. I tutored them in reading, writing and prepared them for their standardized school. One of my student, who didn't get into one of the six specialized high school as an eight grader, was accepted into Bronx Science High School under my guidance in 9th grade.I continued tutoring throughout college and even in medical school. During college, I tutored underclassmen as well as worked in two different tutoring organization. These organizations were very different. In one of these organizations, I conducted individualized tutorial sessions for students (K-12) with academic deficiencies after determining what skill areas required additional assistance. In the second organization, I lead two-hour study sessions (5-6 students) from K-12th grade for state exams, specialized high school exams, pre-SAT, SAT and ACT. During medical school, I have tutored students for medical board exams. My strongest subjects have always been math and science. In particular, I am really good in Biology and Chemistry. For college level, I can tutor any biology/chemistry related subjects except organic chemistry.

For those looking to get straight A's throughout the semester or ace the regents, let's start the year off on the right foot.My teaching methods are excellent, and unlike most tutors, I bring fun and excitement to the subject, because we all know how boring the physical and biological sciences can be at times. Using various analogies and examples, I find that I capture my students attention and bring the best out of them. Most importantly, I look forward to helping my students, allowing them to excel and achieve their goals. I'm a medical resident. looking to tutor in biology, anatomy, math, and MCAT prep. Teaching is one of my passions, and I have tutored since I was in high school. I continued to tutor while at Stony Brook University where I graduated with a double major in applied math and bioinformatics/computational biology. Due to unfortunate circumstances, I need to stay home for the next few months. I do not want to stop my tutoring so here I am looking to help students virtually! Medical school has made biology my favorite subject to tutor in as I've really nailed in me how to learn and understand a lot of material in a short amount of time. Medical school has taught me many approaches and tactics to making learning more efficient I wish I knew about earlier. I aim to share these methods with my students to make them stand out from the rest.

I am a graduate of the New York Institute of Technology. I received my Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences with a Pre-Medical concentration, and I graduated Magna Cum Laude. I am working towards obtaining my M.D. Degree and hope to become a doctor in our growing scientific community.I have four years worth of professional and non-professional tutoring experience. I was employed by the New York Institute of Technology to tutor fellow students in subjects such as Calculus, General Biology, Physics, Organic Chemistry, Human Physiology, Embryology, Histology and Statistical Analysis. I have extensive one-on-one tutoring experience, small group (2-5 students) tutoring experience and classroom setting tutoring experience. I have worked with high school and college students, as well as elementary and middle school children in the subjects of math and science. All of my students have demonstrated great improvement in their test scores and showed a much better understanding of the material. I primarily use visual methods during my tutoring session such as charts, pictures, diagrams, colors and most importantly, organization, to give my students a better understanding of subject. However, I am very flexible with my teaching, and I am dedicated in creating a very personalized method that works best for each individual student. I truly believe that patience and hard work are the keys to success, and combined with the right tools anyone can overcome any obstacles they find while trying to further their education. While I do tutor many subjects, my personal favorite has to be Biology/Anatomy/Physiology and Genetics. I am fascinated by the human body and its complexity. That is actually the reason I chose the M.D. Route. I am always yearning to learn more, and I hope to pass that enthusiasm onto my students as well. When I'm not tutoring, I both act in theatre productions and sing with my A Cappella group. I also love reading, writing and drawing.

I am a graduate of the specialized high school, Brooklyn Tech. I attend the New York Institute of Technology for my bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering. I began to help others with subjects such as math and science at my uncle's local community center. When I was in the 8th grade, I would help kids who were much younger than I was at the time. As I grew older and learned more about mathematics and other subjects I also learned to tutor those around me in the same subjects. I began to prep for my SATs from when I finished 8th grade and by the time I was in 10th grade I was tutoring some who were older than I was at the time. I always enjoyed helping others in math and helping them excel. Recently a girl I tutored for SHSAT was accepted into Stuyvesant High School. She called me to tell me the great news, and I was filled with happiness. Moments like that are the reason why I began helping others by tutoring. In my culture tutors and teachers are highly respected; I love the respect that comes with the job. I hope to be a valuable asset to those who rely on me to further enhance their education. I believe all students are capable of learning. They all do not learn at the same rate, but with different methods and strategies, it is possible. Students should not be thought of as mindless individuals just waiting to be filled with knowledge by their teachers.Quite the opposite; students should be viewed as individuals who can contribute to the classroom, sharing and gaining knowledge from each other. Students need guidance and not just lectures only. Education is not solely academic; the teacher must also educate his students mentally by teaching them the skills needed to solve problems and socially by teaching them the skills needed to communicate and work productively with others. From Resume:- High School Social Studies/Technology Teacher- Social Studies/Language Arts Teacher- Middle School Technology/Math Integration Teacher- ESL

Currently residing in the East coast, I earned my Bachelor's in Life Science with a Pre-Medical concentration at the New York Institute of Technology. Since graduation, I have been volunteering my time to non-profits that work to raise awareness about minorities and the daily struggles they continue to face. I am an aspiring doctor, and I hope to serve underprivileged communities by helping them get better access to healthcare. During my undergraduate years, there were some concepts that I would struggle with and, as a result, would reach out to my professors for help. Their unconditional support and ways of helping students understand each concept inspired me to want to help students as well. Hence, I became a tutor at the learning center and helped students struggling in Biochemistry, Microbiology, and General Biology. Over the years, I have tutored students in Elementary school and High school in subjects such as Algebra, Geometry, and of course, the general sciences. Working with these kids has taught me that the more you extend yourself to your students, the more they are encouraged to work harder and strive harder. Every tutor has a different way of teaching and every student has a different way of learning. However, it is important to combine the two to develop methods and take approaches in a manner which makes the students grasp and really understand the subject matter to his or her fullest potential. Education is so important and studying hard is the key to a bright future. In my spare time, you can find me enjoying books, drinking coffee, volunteering for social justice organizations, or playing volleyball.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tutors with NYIT backgrounds bring direct experience with the university's curriculum, teaching style, and academic expectations. They understand the specific challenges students face in NYIT courses and can provide insider perspective on how to succeed. This shared institutional knowledge helps them tailor explanations and study strategies to match how material is taught at NYIT.

NYIT-trained tutors are particularly strong in engineering, computer science, information technology, architecture, and mathematics—core areas of NYIT's academic focus. Many also have expertise in physics, chemistry, and other STEM subjects that form the foundation of NYIT programs. Whether you need help with foundational courses or upper-level major-specific classes, connecting with a tutor from your institution gives you access to someone who's navigated the same coursework.

During your first session, the tutor will assess your current understanding of the material, identify specific areas where you're struggling, and learn about your learning style and goals. This helps them create a personalized plan tailored to your needs. If you're working with a tutor who attended NYIT, they can also discuss how the course fits into your program and what instructors typically emphasize.

An NYIT graduate understands the rigor and pace of your courses because they've completed them. They can share study strategies that worked for them, help you navigate difficult concepts using explanations that align with how NYIT professors teach, and provide motivation based on real experience. They also understand the broader context of your major and can help you see how individual courses connect to your future career.

When you reach out to Varsity Tutors, let us know you're looking for someone with NYIT experience. We'll connect you with a tutor who has the right subject expertise and background at your institution. You can discuss your specific courses and challenges, and the tutor can share how their NYIT education prepared them to help you succeed.

NYIT courses, especially in engineering and technical fields, can be demanding—but personalized tutoring makes a real difference. A tutor with NYIT experience knows which topics typically trip up students and has strategies to break down complex material. They can help you master problem-solving techniques, prepare for exams, and build confidence in subjects that feel overwhelming.

Yes. Tutors with NYIT backgrounds understand the format and expectations of NYIT exams and know what professors emphasize in grading. They can help you practice problems similar to what you'll see on tests, review key concepts, and develop exam strategies. For project-based courses, they can also guide you through design thinking and technical execution based on their own experience.

Varsity Tutors works with your schedule, whether you need intensive help before an exam or ongoing support throughout the semester. You can adjust frequency and session length based on your needs and budget. Many NYIT students find that even a few focused sessions make a meaningful difference in their understanding and grades.
