As a student of life, education, both formal and informal, energizes me. On the formal front, I have my AA in Psychology, my BA in Criminology, and my MS in E-Commerce, and I have an equally diverse post-studies career history. My love of education has taken me to Southern California where I fed my love of law and learned about film. Next, I visited rural Florida with a stint at a Community Theatre. I've even spent a fair amount of time in the Hospitality Industry in Las Vegas, which, unexpectedly, introduced me to the construction industry. Through all of this, I have been a professional tutor for profit and pro bono. I believe education should be available to everyone regardless of age, sex, or socio-economic status, and I utilize learning identification to impart wisdom in the most effective way possible for each student's needs. I love that magical moment when the student "gets it." With experience in a broad range of subjects, mathematics is the most enjoyable for me, as well as LSAT Logic Games I'm the weirdo doing LSAT games at the tea house. I began studying Japanese in high school. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Japanese Language and Literature from UC Berkeley, my Master of Arts in Japanese from Indiana University, and my Doctor of Philosophy in East Asian Languages and Literature from UC Irvine. After receiving my PhD, I served as a Lecturer at UC Irvine and Stanford University, a Visiting Professor at University of Oregon, and an Assistant Professor at Murray State University. While most of my teaching experience has been on the collegiate level, I did serve as substitute teacher in Los Angeles and spent two months working at a language magnet school teaching Japanese. I bring both experience in the collegiate classroom and from several trip to Japan to my tutoring in Japanese Language; as a tutor I want to bring all this experience to help students further their passion and understanding of Japanese language and culture. Most commonly, a science undergraduate pursues either graduate school, or some type of medical professional coursework, (doctors, nurses, or pharmacists). This was my original plan; to finish my undergraduate degree, and then go on to do a PhD. But after working as a teaching assistant during my master's degree, I realized how much I enjoyed working with my students and encouraging them to pursue and work hard in science.I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, College Park in biochemistry and cell biology in 2008. Immediately following this I started my Master's degree in Biotechnology at University of California, Irvine. The first year of my Master's mainly involved classroom instruction, as well as lab courses, during which my colleagues and I learned and practiced complex techniques required to conduct research. The second year of graduate school, I was able to pursue my own research and also work as a teaching assistant. I worked in Dr. Dana Aswad's biochemistry lab, analyzing and separating proteins from mouse brains. I also taught a discussion section in the introductory Genetics course. As a TA, my responsibilities were to review material covered in lecture, and hold one office hour every week for my students to come in and ask my assistance in understanding any of the difficult topics being covered in class. Because of how much I enjoyed teaching discussion, I went beyond what was expected of me, and extended my office hours, often conducting exam reviews. Sometimes there were students from other sections who would attend my office hour because of my accessibility as a teacher. This gave me immense satisfaction, and it became clear to me that a career as a high school teacher would be fitting for my personality and interests.As my master's program came to an end, I applied and received admission to a teacher credential program at UCI which I was planning to enter starting in the fall of 2010. It was during this time that I discovered I was pregnant. My husband was also a graduate student. Given this, and because of many other factors from childcare, to the desire to bond with my child I decided I needed to stay at home with my son, and put my career plans on hold.In 2011 spring I started tutoring, as it provided me with flexible hours, and enabled me to nurture my newborn. For 4 years I tutored chemistry, AP chemistry, Biology, Algebra, and some environmental science for high school students. Again I discovered the love I had for sparking scientific interest in a young student, and watching their faces light up as they understood a concept they had seen as difficult. Tutoring students was especially satisfying since I was able to cultivate a one-on-one rapport with the students, enabling me to cater my teaching to their needs. Some students were well prepared and knew exactly what they needed help with, while others needed me to comb through their notes and figure out what to cover during our sessions. Either way, I often succeeded in helping them improve in their grades and confidence in class. I choose to interact with the family of the student and continually update them on the status of their student, as I believe that the family plays a crucial role as well as the tutor himself. Also, I approach my students in a very friendly way to eliminate any discomfort or stress the student might have. Finally, I am looking forward to helping more students succeed in their academic endeavors.

I have been a Early Childhood Education and After school program teacher for six years with University of California, Irvine. I have obtained the After School Program Site Supervisor Permit from California Department of Education. Prior to the career, I had taught a year of Chinese in reading, writing, and speaking in a Sat Chinese School in Irvine. I also tutored pre-schoolers in a non-traditional Chinese program.I graduated from UCI with BA degree in Psychology and Social Behavior and minored in Education. I also obtained the after school program certificate from the UCI Education Department. Recently, I completed the Diversity Development Program Training from Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity; I attended two-day intensive Anti-bias Education workshop with Museum of Tolerance in order to enhance my professional skills and knowledge.

Zealous and well-studied tech innovator and Air Force Officer. I joined the platform because a recruiter relayed an urgent need for Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT) tutors and I want to expand the Air Force's pipeline of qualified candidates.Apart from the Air Force, I'm passionate about invigorating innovation-- I want to advance Women in STEM and encourage undergraduates of all sorts to improve their technical skills and start innovating.I earned my Undergraduate Honors degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of California at Irvine; my Master of Science degree in Software Engineering at Cal State University Fullerton; a graduate certificate in Data Analytics from the Air Force Institute of Technology; and am pursuing a GC in Modeling Sim and Analysis and an M.S. in Systems Engineering at AFIT.
