Since the age of 16, I've worked with children starting out as a mother's helper to working as a waitress at Friendly's. At a young age, I always knew I wanted to become a teacher. I have worked in positions as a substitute teacher and special educator while I pursued my studies leading up to a Master's degree in Elementary Education. Hello everyone:My name is Barry. I have been teaching mathematics on and off since 1970. I have a passion for teaching math. You might say that I love math. I have a BA degree in Math and an MS degree in Math Education, both from Lehman College. I worked for Honeywell International for 25 years. Half on my time at Honeywell, I was a technical trainer, teaching programming courses and operating system courses. I taught customers in the United States and from different countries. The other half of my time, I was a software test engineer. I retired from Honeywell in 2003.In 2003, I joined Everest College Phoenix. I teach math both on ground and online. In 2015, I joined Brown Mackie College and Grand Canyon University. In November, I will be married to my lovely wife, Sharon, for 47 years. I have two sons, Andrew and Mathew. Andrew is an oncologist. He is married and has two children, Benjamin and Lexie, who are 13 and7 years old, respectively. My younger son, Mathew, is an aspiring pharmacist with an MS degree in Psychology. Both Andrew and Mathew graduated from the University of Arizona for their undergraduate education. We have two cats, Pebbles and Sprinkles. I am looking forward to working with you this term.

I have enjoyed solving problems and identifying patterns from a young age. As a result, mathematics has become my favorite subject in life. I have been curious to discover how mathematics affects our daily life in the real world. It is exciting to solve different types of problems by using analytical skills and mathematical knowledge. I believe being a mathematician is right for me.I have been tutoring since 2007. I have gained understanding of mathematical concepts. It has really attracted me to learn and teach math. Daniel Lewis is a strong, passionate, powerful, and successful educator from the New York City area. His foray into education began at the age of 16 when he began choreographing dance numbers at his local church and his high school. That led to his first teaching job at a summer youth camp at age 18 teaching hip-hop choreography for the next three years. By 2010, he turned his attention to being academic tutor thanks in part to his success with children and his stellar grade point average. Throughout his career, he has helped many students improve their math and ELA scores, pass key exams, and used his experience as a learning disable student to inspire others. Daniel holds an A.A.S. in Liberal Arts/Math and Science from Westchester Community College, a B.A. in Theatre Arts/Mass Communication and Broadcasting from CUNY Herbert H. Lehman College, an MSEd. in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) from Sarah Lawrence College, and has additional credential in middle level education and middle level mathematics education via NYSUT (in affiliation with UFT).

Education and teaching has been my passion from a young age. I would trade my recess times in elementary school to go into classrooms and just watch teachers and volunteer as a student helper. I have enjoyed working in many positions in education, such as a teacher, educational director, mentor, and program evaluator to name a few. While each position was different, they were all about making sure that learning was fun and engaging for every single student. My favorite position was helping teachers teach and providing support in making the learning environment come alive. . Being able to go into the classrooms and share fun strategies with teachers such as lesson activities, making up learning songs, and connecting learning to real world experiences, was and is truly rewarding. Being an educator for both students and teachers is an amazing position to hold. However, the greatest treasure that I have found is the learning and growth that I receive from each student and teacher that I am able to work with.

I have been a highly skilled middle school science teacher for the past three years in New York City public schools. This experience enables much familiarity with the standards and curriculums that some students may need help with in all subject areas. After tutoring some students I realized that they performed better in numerous tasks since they gained confidence and skills from our sessions. Since 2018, I've helped students through the Pathways to Graduation program achieve their High School Equivalency diploma by passing the TASC exam. My content focus for this exam has been English (reading and writing) and Social Studies. My teaching philosophy (especially when it comes to standardized tests) stems from my background in athletics.
